Say 'thank you' to someone who has made a difference

Hertfordshire County Council’s ‘Excellence in Public Health’ awards are back for 2022, giving recognition to those who have made an outstanding contribution to improving the health of the people of Hertfordshire during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Anyone who lives, works, studies, cares or volunteers in Hertfordshire is eligible to nominate and be nominated – including individuals, groups and organisations. This year there are six categories:

Volunteer award – for a voluntary group or individual who went above and beyond to provide a non-paid service to support people.
Leadership award – for a leader who demonstrated ongoing commitment, vision and passion in improving the health of the public.
Community award – for a group or individual who provided support and improved the health of others within their local community.
Good neighbour award – for an individual or family who provided support and made a positive impact on the health of one or some of their neighbours.
Children and young people award – for an individual or group of children or young people (under the age of 18) who provided support for or had a positive impact on the health of others.
Councillors’ special award – for an individual or group of people nominated by a Hertfordshire County Councillor for their work in supporting and improving the health of others.

A shortlist of finalists will be put to the public vote to decide the winner for each category, which will be announced at an award ceremony at the end of September. The finalist with the most public votes will be announced as the winner of the coveted Dr Joan Crawley Award, awarded in memory of the late Dr Joan Crawley, who was a Hertfordshire GP and pioneer in the field of public health.

Nominations are open now until Thursday 1 August 2022, so if there is someone who you think deserves an award for their contributions to the health of the public during the pandemic, please put them forward. Visit hertfordshire.gov.uk/PHawards2022 for more information.
